May these words of my heart and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”- Psalm 19:14

How amazing would it be if the thing that troubled you all week, depleting your joy, strength, and faith levels, could be changed in a moment? Well, it is more than just some “pie in the sky” dream, mind over matter state of being, or stay positive, glass half-full mantra. We have been given the AUTHORITY to see the heavy burdens lifted off instantly and effortlessly, for the fear that once gripped us to go, and for places marked by darkness to give way to radiant light! With Jesus our Savior and through the power of the Spirit doors must open, mountains move, and walls will come down! Jesus spoke life-giving authority to His followers in Matthew 16:19, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The beginning place for breaking the cycle of burden and doubt is to believe that we indeed have been given authority to CHANGE the way we think, the things we feel, the struggles we face, the needs which are great, and the relationships that are strained. We need to look at these areas as being able to be touched and transformed by God’s presence, promise, and power. As we STAND on His Word and in His Spirit, there is a grace that is evident and a power that is effectual to each one who calls on the name of the Lord. In Ephesians 3:20, Paul gives believers reason to hope, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask of imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” Don’t miss the truth that there is transformative and triumphant power in us!

Think about the authority you have in the natural, everyday world to change things. When writing a check, you can undo an error by simply crossing out the mistake, writing in the new amount and/or date, and confirming it with your initials. When creating a voice mail message on your cell phone, you can delete a recording that is not to your liking and try again. When working on your computer, there is no need to freak out when you accidently delete a paragraph/message, because a simple click of the “undo” button will return you to the previous place.

As God’s children, let us be convinced that we have what we need to stand strong, endure trials, and overcome all battles. Here are some promises from the Bible that speaks to our authority:

1 John 5:4- “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

Romans 8:37- “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

1 Corinthians 15:57- “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:4- “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

Once we believe in this awesome authority our next step is to begin to align our lives to His will and actively speak it and step out in it by faith. Consider taking time to speak a word, to offer a prayer, to focus the mind on that which DIRECTLY OPPOSES what’s coming against you. If you are dealing with FEAR, begin to speak “peace” over your life. If you are battling SICKNESS, begin to pray for “healing” over your body. If you are lacking RESOURCES, be confident that you will receive “abundant provision”. I am here to tell you no matter what has been wreaking havoc over your life this week, can in a moment have a major dose of heaven bring relief. Take a MINUTE every time you begin to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, tempted, afraid, and confused, and watch the peace and power of God come in!

Let’s cross out the lies and put our initials next to God’s precious and perfect promises. As 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through them the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
