He Answers

When I called you answered me; You greatly emboldened me. Psalm 138:3

Our Heavenly Father never slumbers or sleeps. He is always attuned to our call. Jeremiah 33:3 declares: “Call to me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things you do not know.”

This verse in Psalm 138 proclaims the blessing that comes as God answers, as He enters the situation and circumstance, bringing strength, hope, and encouragement. His presence and power entering any place or people dramatically and miraculously changes things.

Our Heavenly Father is always available to us. He is not like the people in our world who may be too busy or distracted. Years ago, when I taught in South Africa, I learned a song about the wonderful accessibility of God:

“You control the thunder

Cause the winds to blow

Send the driving rain and

Silent snow

Open every flower

Color every tree

Then You sit right down and

Talk to me”

(“A Great Big God” by Mark Pendergrass)

Let this truth encourage and embolden your heart. He is hearing and answering, so call, cry, ask, seek, and knock! As the fire of this pandemic and its effects continues to rage, raise your voice in prayer. Together, let us storm the gates of heaven for the spread of this virus to stop, and for recovery and healing to come to this battle-wearied world. In His Name and for His glory. Amen!
