My Happy Place

Jesus said, ‘For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will but to do the will of Him who sent Me.”- John 6:38

What makes you HAPPY? The thing(s) that bring maximum joy, is 100 on a 1-10 scale, gets your juices flowing, gets you out of bed super enthusiastic about the day, and gets you talking non-stop.

This life purpose, faith driven question reminds me of the 1990’s movie HOOK, which delivers a unique angle on the Peter Pan story. Robin Williams plays Peter, who has chosen to give up being young forever, flying, and even his amazing home, Neverland, to marry the love of his life. As Peter grows older, he no longer remembers who he truly is. As the plot unfolds, Peter returns to Neverland to battle his nemesis, Captain Hook. But the only way he can fly again is to remember his “Happy Thought”. Peter finally discovers that his children brought him the greatest joy. Being a dad had him soaring again, feeling young again, and was the most important thing in this world.

We need to focus and pursue what fuels our faith. As we remember the gift of God’s love and His call to a life of good deeds, it will return us to a place of higher purpose, priorities, and passion. Ephesians 2:10 tells us, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” The thing(s) which fuels our faith should be pleasing to God, a blessing to others, and deeply satisfying within.

A life of purpose and passion should be tangible and visible. Others should be able to tell it from our COUNTENANCE and we should be able to feel it as a CONSUMING FIRE dominating our thoughts, directing our steps, and defining our identity. In Jeremiah 20:9 the prophet speaks of this type of faith fuel, “But if I say, ‘I will not mention His word or speak anymore in His Name,’ His word was in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”

May your New, 2022, Christ Image, Happy Thought cause you to smile, burn deep within, and bring blessing in everything you do, everywhere you go, and everyone you see!
