Surrounded and Safe
"As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and forevermore.”- Psalm 125:2
Over the last few weeks, the world has been captivated by the tragic events surrounding the Titan submersible implosion, which resulted in the loss of five precious lives. The constant news cycle coverage brought us terms such as “Catastrophic Failure” and “Structural Compromise”. I have heard those two phrases more in the last couple of weeks than in the rest of my lifetime combined.
In the midst of tragedies like this, I am reminded that we are surrounded by the Lord’s presence and safe in His care. In Isaiah 46:4 the Lord declares, “Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” The Lord our Maker is also our Defender, Sustainer, and Provider. He knows our needs before we ask; He knows the number of hairs on our head; He knows the years of our life; and He knows what is best for us. The pressures we face and the pain we experience are met by His constant and loving care. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us, “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.”
The deeper we press into Jesus the SAFER we will be, and the deeper God works on us the BETTER we will be! In John 8:31-32 Jesus said, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Our going deeper in Jesus will not put us in peril, but rather a place of peace, promise, and power. As we seek Him with all our heart, search out His will and ways for living, and speak His name over all we face and need, we will get stronger as we go deeper.
Let’s take this faith and truth journey together as we begin our Summer Series, DEEP DIVE, this Saturday night at 5 pm. As followers of Jesus, we need a solid foundation, clear path, and anchor of hope for the storms we face in this turbulent world. Deep Dive will help us to be grounded, guarded, and guided by deep truths and strong convictions. 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, “These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”
Because our God is on our side and strong, we are forever safe!
