The Friendly Skies
“After He has suffered, He will see the light of life and be satisfied; by His knowledge My righteous servant will justify many and He will bear their iniquities.”- Isaiah 53:11
Last week I wrote about an upcoming family trip and my general uneasiness about flying. Well, I wanted to assure everyone that everything went excellently (both the itinerary and my internal anxiety)! Both flights were on-time for departure, arrived early to the destination, and were void of any drama (i.e.- turbulence; loud snoring; obnoxious passengers; lost luggage).
There was one other feature that reminded of how much Jesus pays the price, paves the way, and protects our lives. Both flights were leaving from GATE 53. For anyone that knows me, I am a numbers guy. I like to connect different digits to Bible Scriptures to find symbolism and significance. Upon seeing each flight was at the above gate number, I became relaxed and reassured by one of the most well-known promises about Jesus. This prophecy about the coming Messiah speaks of His suffering for our sins and His leading us into God’s glory. The bruises Christ took on our behalf speaks to the beauty of our being CLEANSED, COVERED and made COMPLETE in Him. Jesus emptied Himself by coming to the World. Jesus provided and led the way, by dying on the cross for us. And Jesus stands before the Father in constant prayer for us. He finished the work on the cross and is forever working in order that we would continue in this beautiful and powerful salvation. Hebrews 2:11 says, “Both the one who makes people holy and those who are being made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.”
Whatever the fears, the stresses, the lies, and the battles you find yourself in, know that you are not on your own. Jesus knows the sadness you feel, the pain you have, the troubles on your mind, the needs for this week/this month, the questions that have you doubting, and the loss you have experienced. Just before Jesus was to face the cross and fly off into heaven, He spoke this important word to Peter in Luke 22:31-32, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Even as you read this article may the Holy Spirit bring a clear, undeniable, today’s need ANSWER to prove He is right there, knows what you face, and that everything is going to be okay. Get ready to experience an uninterrupted faith flight into the new places God has for you!
