Camp Kingdom
"For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that He will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.”- Deuteronomy 23:14
Summertime means Camp Season! And I am not talking about a beautiful beach or majestic mountain getaway location. The summer calendar is filled with kids and youth heading to our Foursquare Church’s very own Camp Cedar Crest (in Running Springs, just below Big Bear).
Our young people will be heading to camp to be with friends (and make new ones), have fun, all the while drawing near to God and removing the distractions from their everyday, noisy, and pressure filled worlds. Micah 4:2 speaks of the powerful that happens in this type of setting, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths. The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
Camp Cedar Crest holds a special place in my heart, with having over thirty visits for Kids, Youth, Men’s, and Leadership retreats. Colossians 3:1 tells us, “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” I have encountered God in powerful ways at camp: My first trip was a week after being saved, so my faith was ignited there; During a worship time I was delivered in a profound way, from a powerful touch from the Holy Spirit; I have story after story of pouring into young people through various serving and speaking opportunities. This destination may be in California, but the deposit in my life and countless thousands, makes this a holy place where God’s Kingdom is released!
This summer I want us to hold camp in our hearts in two specific ways:
1) Please be praying for our upcoming YOUTH CAMP (July 22-26). Pray for Pastors Jordan, Joanie, and our youth from Restoration Church to have a safe time, a fun time, and a time meeting with and being filled by Jesus!
2) For every guy at our church, mark your calendars for the FALL MEN’S RETREAT (October 20-22). I would love to go to camp with you! There will be amazing main sessions, practical breakout talks, great activities, and time to connect with others.
