Simply Follow

My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.”- John 10:27

Anyone else super thankful when our kids just do what we ask without putting up a fight or demonstrate happiness without needing more stuff? It may sound like a dream too good to be true, but many will have at least one kid who is perfectly content with whatever life throws their way. They are good with whatever is for dinner, whatever they get for Christmas, and whenever they are asked to do their homework or chores.

I so appreciate and admire those who operate from a place of SIMPLE FAITH. I am thankful for the women and men who have wonderfully modeled pure joy, genuine trust, and a content life in Jesus. One of the Apostle Paul’s greatest goals was CONTENTMENT. In Philippians 4:11 he testifies, “For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” And in 2 Timothy 6:6 he teaches his star pupil, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.

The greatest demonstration of our thankfulness to God is by giving the gift of our life to Him. In Matthew 16:24-25 Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.” Recently while in prayer I found myself making a confession of newfound commitment. I want my following to be the type that where Jesus wants to send me, I WILL GO; when He asks of me, I WILL DO; and what He tells me, I WILL SAY.

As we enter the holiday season, let’s have a renewed joy and devotion to Jesus. May our simple faith and pure delight in Him override the need to have more, the need to be stimulated by the miraculous/supernatural, the need to have others determine our value, identity, and affirmation. Jesus is enough and with Him there is always abundant satisfaction!
