Sweet Tooth Faith

Now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.”- 1 Peter 2:3

For those that went trick or treating as kids, there aren’t many feelings that matched getting home with a pile of sweet tooth delights! Was there a favorite type of candy that had you drooling and munching it down before you even made it back home on Halloween? My two favorites, go-to treats, are Twix and Kit Kat.

This is my favorite time of the year without a doubt, and it has nothing to do about candy bars. I love the fall season that ushers us into the holidays! It is a time of gratitude, giving, and being filled with the gift of peace and joy. The feeling of entering the goodness of God’s presence, is as real (and way better for you) as biting into and tasting my favorite candy. Psalm 119:103 declares, “How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my lips!

As millions of children go out filling their sacks with sweets this Sunday, I am feeling prompted to spend time thinking about my favorite things when it comes to walking with Jesus. In Philippians 4:8 Paul shares, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is pure, whatever it lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.” Let me knock on the door of your heart by asking:

- What is your favorite Bible Verse?

- Where is your favorite place to spend alone/quiet time with God?

- What attribute(s) of God the Father and Jesus the Son are you amazed by?

- What prayer(s) has God answered recently?

- What is your favorite worship song?

- What is something God has done that is still unspeakably spectacular?

My prayer for this season is that we would be filled with a childlike joy to celebrate the goodness (and sweetness) of God’s love that fills us to overflowing. It is worth going gaga over! In Psalm 84:10 the writer proclaims, “Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” May you be amazed and overjoyed by everything of who God is and what He does in your life.
