The Gift of You

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ.”- Galatians 6:2

Gift giving is so much fun! It is wonderful to know someone is blessed, excited and appreciative by what we gave them. Let’s be real, it feels good when a child thinks our birthday present is the best of the bunch! Jesus, was speaking a truth we need to remember and operate in, when Paul quotes Him in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

People need the Gift of YOU! With the holiday season right around the corner, let’s look to be the best gift possible as we befriend and bless people, hang out with and help people, encourage and extend love to people, share counsel and compassion with people. There are many people out there who need a friend like you, someone who will shine Jesus’ light like you. You are a gift that cannot be bought in a store and cannot be produced by this world. Because Jesus is alive and at work in your life, you display love, compassion, patience, grace, and understanding. In John 13:35 Jesus said, “By this the world will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

Give people the gift of your PRESENCE! One of the most important things we can do for others is simply to be with them. Being present when someone has a need; when someone is processing through a tough time; when someone has nobody else to talk to; when someone needs a prayer partner; when someone is looking for a friend. Proverbs 18:24 tells us, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” We can give the gift of being present to…

- A Co-Worker navigating a tough time in their home life.

- A neighbor needing help with a project.

- A family member/friend feeling down after some bad news.

- Our kids looking for some quality time with mom and dad.
