The MVP's

"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”- Acts 20:24

Everybody loves a special “Shout Out”. A shout-out is a public acknowledgement of affection or appreciation for another person. From love songs dedicated on the radio, birthday greetings on the stadium scoreboard, employee of the month picture frames to five-star Yelp reviews, it shines the light on that special someone. One time I had a shout-out at a stoplight. The youngest player on our basketball team was in the car next to me, shouting my name and telling their driver how I scored 50 points in our last game.

God is looking for M.V.P.’S (Most Voices Possible) to give Jesus a shout-out. We’re called to share His love, tell the story, and spread His fame to everyone. Psalm 105:1 declares, “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done.” We have the best story of good news to give for people searching, looking for answers, deeply desiring to be loved/accepted, and wrestling with all that makes up their existence.

A focal point for Vision Month is to see MORE VOICES used to SPEAK LIFE. One way this takes place AT Restoration Church is by releasing people to lead our gatherings (think communion, prayer time, announcements, etc…) and be on our teaching team. Another way it happens FROM/THROUGH our church is by equipping and encouraging everyone to share their faith. 1 John 1:3 says, “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you may also have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and the His Son, Jesus Christ.”

Sharing our faith can be intimidating and uncomfortable. However, this news is too good to stay silent and Jesus has given the Spirit to empower us as witnesses (Acts 1:8). Here are three simple ways to speak up and see lives changed:

1) SHARE YOUR STORY- Talk about the wonderful things God has done to change your life, provide an answer, or help you overcome an obstacle. That will surely help people with a struggling marriage, dealing with personal loss, unemployment, addiction, bombarded with depression and more.

2) GIVE A SCRIPTURE- This is one of the most effective ways to deliver God’s message. Keep His Promises in your mental rolodex to give away. Watch people’s responses and the results of His Word being planted into their heart.

3) INVITE TO CHURCH- Let people know how much you love your church and ask them if they want to join you on a Saturday night to experience God’s love.

Let’s be messengers who put the spotlight on Jesus and see MANY introduced to the true MVP!
